SACVB Names Andres Muñoz VP, Marketing & Communications

The San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau (SACVB) announced that industry veteran Andrés Muñoz has been hired as Vice President, Marketing & Communications. The SACVB is the sales and marketing organization promoting San Antonio as a premier tourism and meetings destination, and is a department of the City of San Antonio.

Muñoz starts with the organization February 1, 2012. He brings more than 20 years of diverse experience in the marketing and communications field, most recently serving for three years as the SACVB Group Account Director at Bromley Communications.

His award-winning experience includes marketing efforts for McDonald’s, Colgate, Visa and Sony. Global creative agency DDB brought him from Colombia to the U.S. to lead the McDonald’s USA Hispanic account.

“Andrés brings a depth of experience and a new perspective to our team,” said Casandra Matej, Executive Director of the SACVB. “We are thrilled to welcome him into our SACVB team, and are looking forward to working together to take our brand ‘Deep. In the Heart.’ to the next level.”

Muñoz adds, “The vision is to find new and innovative vehicles that reach further for potential visitors. Business indicators for San Antonio travel are positive and it is the right moment to ‘step on the throttle’ and help the brand reach further nationally and internationally.”

A native of Colombia, Muñoz is married and has two children.

Hospitality is a leading industry in San Antonio, which attracts 26 million visitors a year. More than 100,000 are employed in the industry, which has an overall annual economic impact of $11 billion.
