Dee Dee Poteete

Director of Communications

Dee Dee Poteete is a 30-year public relations professional who has been with the Convention & Visitors Bureau for 17 years. She directs public relations for the organization nationally and internationally. To date, she has generated more than $100 million in positive publicity for the City of San Antonio. She is an active member of the Society of American Travel Writers; the Texas Travel Industry Association; Destination Marketing Association International; Travel Industry of America and the Public Relations Society of America, Travel & Tourism. Dee Dee holds a B.A. in English Communications Arts from St. Mary’s University.

Tonya Hope

Media Relations Manager

Tonya Hope has been a member of the Communications team since 2003. She works with national and international journalists, specializing in sports and romance media. Prior to joining the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau Tonya worked as a newscast producer and reporter. Tonya holds a B.A. in Communications with a minor in Special Education from Texas Lutheran University and is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the Public Relations Society of America.

Tonya’s San Antonio: Traveling is in my blood. I was born in San Antonio, but traveled the globe because my father was in the Air Force. Growing up, my parents always told my brother and me that the family would one day return to San Antonio. I am now proud to call San Antonio home once again!

Sara Gruber

Media Relations Manager

Sara Gruber joined the Communications team in 2007. She specializes in family and local media and serves as the CVB's copywriter. Prior to joining the CVB, Sara spent four years in the magazine industry, most recently as the Editor-in-Chief for Eve, A Magazine for Women. Sara holds a B.A. in English, with a focus on literature.

Sara’s San Antonio: There is nothing like morning on the River Walk. The cafes slowly opening, the people walking and chatting—the pace is slower. It is the absolute best time to explore the pocket gardens that line the river or curl up on a bench with a good book.

Krystal Jones

Media Relations Manager

Krystal joined the Communications team in 2011. Her background includes corporate and agency public relations experience. As a Media Relations Manager, Krystal concentrates on international and domestic arts and culture, history, LGBT, and meetings and conventions media. She also serves as the CVB's internal communications manager. Krystal is the Vice President of Programs for the Public Relations Society of America's San Antonio chapter. She earned a master’s degree in public relations from Syracuse University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and communication studies from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio.

Krystal’s San Antonio: What do I love most about San Antonio? The people. As a new resident who has lived in and visited many places, I am amazed at how friendly and accommodating San Antonians are. The city’s gorgeous architecture, fun events and festivals, and distinct history and culture, combined with the hospitality of its residents, makes San Antonio a one-of-a-kind destination.

Eva Aivaliotis

Senior Communications Assistant

Eva Aivaliotis has been with the Communications team since early 2008, and previously served as an intern. She graduated from Texas Christian University with a B.A. in International Communication, Advertising/PR. Eva is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, Travel & Tourism and New Professionals sections. She served as the 2011 Newsletter Editor for the PRSA New Pros Executive Committee.

Eva’s San Antonio: The vibe in San Antonio is fun and laid-back. I always run into people at my favorite taco place on Sunday morning. It captures the essence of the city: warm people, simple food and lots of laughs!
