New features including Mexican style cuisine at Mrs. Claus’ Cocina, and life sized lighted
animal displays in Starry Safari.

SAN ANTONIO, TX – San Antonio Zooâ has once again been transformed into a winter wonderland filled with a jaw-dropping array of twinkling lights and Christmas decorations.  Guests will feel the holiday spirit while strolling under a unique display of lights daily beginning Saturday, November 17th and lasting through December 31. The zoo will be open noon until 9 p.m. weekdays, and 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturdays. After the animals head in for the evening, the zoo will be wildly illuminated with jaw-dropping light displays starting at sunset.  Whataburger Zoo Lights includes Christmastime activities, a choreographed light show, s’mores, camel rides, Santa, and an all-new light display featuring life-sized animals in Starry Safari.

Also new this year, Mrs. Claus has transformed her kitchen and is offering some of San Antonio’s favorite Mexican style cuisine at Mrs. Claus’ Cocina. Celebrate the holidays while embracing San Antonio’s unique culture during this exclusive dinner. Enjoy being serenaded by mariachis while indulging on savory Tex - Mex foods. Plus, satisfy your sweet tooth with authentic Mexican pan dulce and Mexican hot cocoa. After dinner, Mrs. Claus will decorate cookies with the kids and take you to have your family photo taken. Reservations for Mrs. Claus’ Cocina can be made online at sazoo.org.

Back by popular demand, the zoo will feature a custom, high-energy light show. Not your traditional Christmas light display, the Lakeside Light Show features pixel technology combined with a custom soundtrack that is composed of Dubstep, EDM, Hip Hop, and traditional Christmas tunes. Each pixel can be controlled individually and set to any color and intensity. This technology combined with the music means many more effects than what can be done with regular Christmas lights.
Always striving to secure a future for wildlife, the zoo is decked with environmentally-friendly Christmas lights. More than 95 percent of the lights are LED, making them energy efficient. By using LED lights, the zoo uses a fraction of the electricity required for conventional incandescent lights. LEDs use about 75 to 90 percent less power than traditional lights, and each bulb has a longer life. The zoo encourages people to switch to LED lights to save energy which in turn has a positive impact on the environment.

Returning favorites to Whataburger Zoo Light include hot cocoa, roasting s’mores on fire pits, camel rides, and getting the chance to visit with Santa and telling him what’s on your Christmas wish list. Guests will still be able to view select animal habitats while strolling under the lights and shop for unique gifts in the zoo’s gift shop. There’s so much to see and do! Whataburger Zoo Lights is included with zoo membership. Tickets are also available at the gate, on San Antonio Zoo’s mobile app, and online at sazoo.org.
