Pearl Announces Its 2019 Summer Programming

SAN ANTONIO, TX (May 29, 2019) - ​Pearl​ ​is thrilled to announce its programming for summer of 2019, which includes the return of Sound Cream Sunset Sessions, a weekend long Father’s Day celebration, Canciones: Songs of South Texas, Great American Picnic, and more.

“Pearl is extremely excited to bring back summer favorites like Sound Cream Sunset Sessions and Canciones, as well as introduce new events that the San Antonio community will love,” said Elizabeth Fauerso, chief marketing officer of Pearl. “Our programming is geared towards creating experiences that are focused on the exploration of food, music, and art that the entire family can enjoy.”

Sound Cream Sunset Sessions

Sound Cream Sunset Sessions will be returning to Pearl Park for the 2019 summer season. DJ sets are every Wednesday this summer from 5:30 - 9 p.m. This event is free and open to the public and located at Pearl Park. Each summer month will feature a different theme​, ​Tiki Disco, ​Cumbias Necias, and Let’s Play House​—​an all female DJ House showcase. ​The schedule at Pearl includes:

First Thursday Night Market

First Thursday Night Market continues at Pearl for the summer. Visitors can shop at their favorite local Farmers Market vendors and artisans while enjoying music and food from Pearl restaurants. ​Various music artists will perform at the night market this summer at ​Pearl Park from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m and ​at​ Pearl Parkito from 4 to 8 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Father’s Day Adventure Weekend at Pearl

In honor of Fathers’ Day, Pearl will host an adventure-filled weekend in partnership with​ ​MotoDiscovery June 14th through June 16th​. The weekend features the San Antonio film premiere of ​Backcountry Discovery Route’s​ Documentary, ​Southern California Backcountry Discovery Route Project​ on Saturday, June 15th, at Pearl Stable. The documentary details the epic journey along 850 miles of Southern California’s eastern edge, through majestic canyons, rocky riverbeds, and sandy washes of famous deserts and national preserves. Photographer and world traveler Hank Arriazola will have select images from his Motohank Photo Exhibition on display in Pearl Stable as well. This event is free and open to the public. ​The schedule at Pearl includes:

  • Film Premier Screening at Pearl Stable - ​Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 7 p.m.
  • Hank Arriazola Photo Exhibition at Pearl Stable - Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 6–8:30 p.m.

In addition, select retail and restaurants will celebrate adventurous dads with special product lines and menus. Additionally, ​Hotel Emma ​will have a “Rider’s Package,” which includes a Classic Room with complimentary bike parking and Pearl Beer and spicy peanuts amenity upon arrival. Canciones

Canciones, the free concert series celebrating the sounds of South Texas, returns to Pearl Park this summer from 6:30 - 9 p.m. Food and drink will be available for purchase at the Bottling Department and Southerleigh’s oyster bar. ​The schedule at Pearl includes:

  • June 28, Sonidos De San Antonio​: Will feature E​ ddie and the Valiants​ and ​Mitch Webb and the Swindles​, two seminal bands that have been part of the city’s music scene for decades and can aptly play the iconic sounds of San Antonio.
  • July 26, Songs of San Antonio​: will bring back ​Mitch Webb and The Swindles​ and welcome ​Rosie Flores​, ​Will Owen Gage​, ​D.T. Buffkin​ to the Canciones stage. The performance will highlight stories about the songs that have helped shape the musical landscape of San Antonio.
  • August 30, Mujeres De Musica​: Will close out the summer with performances by ​Azul Barrientos​, ​Las Tesoros​, and Eva Ybarra. ​The artists will perform original songs and pay tribute to legendary female musicians with covers of songs by Lydia Mendoza, Mercedes Sosa, Selena, and more.

Great American Picnic
Join Pearl for a Great American Picnic in honor of ​Fourth of July​. The Bottling Department will offer picnic specials--and a special pop out by Bud’s Southern Rotisserie--for guests to purchase and enjoy while listening to live music by the Peterson Brothers. This event will be free and open to the public in Pearl Park from 5 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 4.

Labor Day Party

Pearl ends summer on a high note and will celebrate Labor Day with a party at Pearl Park on September 2 ​from 5 - 8 p.m. The event will feature free, live music by ​Big Cedar Fever​ and Bud's Southern Rotisserie’s beignets and wings at the Bottling Department available for purchase.
