Day 1 of the festival will kick off with headlining sets from the multi-Grammy Award-winning artist and oft-labeled “Best Rapper Alive”, Lil Wayne; as well as from Wiz Khalifa, who was recently nominated for Song of the Year at the 2016 Grammy Awards for the worldwide sensation “See You Again”, the music video for which has been named the “most viewed video of all time on YouTube” with 3+ billion views. One of the most recognizable EDM producers in the world, Carnage, will be accompanied by some of the most exciting up-and-coming hip-hop and R&B acts today, like Playboi Carti, Kali Uchis, Ugly God, Smokepurpp, J.I.D, and more, to round out the sounds of Saturday.

Two of the hottest names in music, both of which hail from Atlanta, are set to take the stage on Sunday night to close out the festival: Future, whose Future and HNDRXX albums, which debuted in back-to-back weeks this past February, made him the first act in nearly the entire 60+ year history of the Billboard 200 album chart to achieve No. 1 debuts in consecutive weeks; and Migos, whose sophomore album, Culture, also topped the Billboard 200 chart this spring, boosted in large part by the smash hits "Bad and Boujee”, “T-Shirt”, and “Slippery”. Additional Day 2 performers include EDM heavyweights Afrojack and Borgore, as well as several Texas-based acts, like rising R&B sensation Khalid (El Paso), acclaimed rappers Trae Tha Truth and Maxo Kream (Houston), San Antonio’s own Xavier Omär, and more. After a sold out event in its first year, which resulted in 30,000 fans in attendance over the weekend, this year’s two-day fest is moving to a new location in Nelson Wolff Stadium (Parking Lot), which is located west of downtown San Antonio at 5757 U.S. Hwy 90 W, San Antonio, TX 78227. The second annual festival will feature an expanded overall footprint, a second main stage, as well as an enhanced overall fan experience for both GA and VIP guests.

Additionally, Mala Luna looks forward to continuing its partnership with Network for Young Artists (NYA); the festival will donate a portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold to the San Antonio-based organization. NYA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides affordable classes in voice, guitar, percussion, keyboard, and dance to San Antonio-area youth ages 4-20. Last year’s partnership resulted in a donation of $15,000 to NYA, which directly supported student-driven music education initiatives through the end of 2016 and into 2017. Additionally, two students from the organization have been invited to perform at the festival, similar to last year’s inaugural event. This year’s performers from NYA will be Isabella Rodriguez and Rayne.

The Mala Luna Music Festival team brings a truly unique and elevated festival experience to San Antonio and the larger South Texas region. Mala Luna celebrated its inaugural event last Halloween weekend, on October 29 and 30, 2016, near downtown San Antonio. Music highlights included performances from headliners Travis Scott, Steve Aoki, G-Eazy, and Kaskade, as well as Tory Lanez, Jeezy, Rae Sremmurd, Kehlani, Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert, Jacquees, and more. The festival will continue to pay homage to the local culture and the communities’ annual Diá de los Muertos celebration through a highly-curated selection of stellar music acts set to perform over two days, along with multiple live art installations and numerous local food vendors and merchants.

The Mala Luna team would like to thank all of the 2017 partners that have helped to make this year’s festival possible, including Univision’s 98.5 The Beat (KBBT-FM), Lone Star Beer, Whataburger, Jim Beam, HEB, Smirnoff Ice, Boost Mobile, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Red Bull, Pepsi, and Electric Sky Wine.
