SAN ANTONIO - May 2017 - The summer countdown is officially on at JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa.  The pools are full, the grass is green, and the resort staff is eagerly planning unique and adventurous activities to entertain summer guests. Dive in to a vacation within a vacation with the introduction of complimentary virtual reality gaming and other tech-fun experiences at the resort this summer season. Guests are also invited to discover a virtual world with VIVE, where guests of all ages will enjoy gaming, exploring or even trying out new adventures. And for young car enthusiasts, there’s an activity to make and drive your own decorated sweet ride to an outdoor movie.

Located just a short drive from San Antonio International Airport, the resort is an annual rite of passage for many families who consider it their vacation playground. Guests return year after year with memories of stargazing, picturesque hill country views, relaxing rocking chairs, sunny summer skies, 9-acres of water park fun, 36-holes of PGA TOUR golf, hill country hiking and biking trails, an award winning spa and a sensational menu of choreographed activities for guests of every age.

The resort experience team curates adventures for all ages in the River Bend Pavilion and the natural playgrounds throughout the resort’s lawns, River Bluff Water Experience, and indoor entertainment facilities. Experiences on property are carefully created to fit into four pillars: Wellness, Nature, the Arts, Poolside Fun and Magical Nights. Kids’ Night Out is also offered as an added bonus for parents wanting to enjoy a special their own night out while on vacation.

New summer offerings include:

Agility Boot Camp (5-16 years old) – Speed Killz Period Training has trained many of Texas’ D1 athletes. Trainers oversee activities focused on speed and movement to enhance neuromuscular control and flexibility. It’s a great way to maintain speed and agility through the summer months or to introduce sports training to budding athletes.

3-D Sidewalk Chalk Gallery – This exciting art form transforms concrete pavement into a canvas of magical walkways around the resort and is a great family activity that encourages imagination and artistry. 

Drive-In Movie – Kids fashion large precut cardboard boxes into hot rods and trucks, then drive their new “ride” to the drive-in movie theater on the resort’s lawn under the stars.

Cibolo Canyon 500 – Start your engine as you experience drag racing at the JW Marriott San Antonio’s super speedway track in a single-seat, open-cockpit car that features a twin turbocharged, direct-injected V-6 engine. 

The resort will be debuting exciting new tech-fun experiences this summer as well that include:

VIVE – Headsets by VIVE wash away the real world with fantastical experiences from rec room games such as ping-pong or pool to an array of adventures as guests are immersed in the world of virtual discovery. Fees will apply for this experience.

VIRTUAL REALITY ADVENTURE –Resort guests may take a 360-degree virtual adventure with JW San Antonio’s PlayStation VR and explore another dimension that will truly rock the user’s sense of reality. The VR experience is complimentary for resort guests.

Returning this summer season will be the resort’s renowned Kids’ Night Out, a special evening formulated for young guests ages four to 12. Offered nightly from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. within the resort, their expert staff entertains the kids while parents spend the evening dining or relaxing.  A variety of cleverly themed celebrations are planned - Moustache Mania, Amphibians, Saddle Up, #Emoji’s, and MARVELous Superhero - that include crafts, games and movies.
