10 Ways to Celebrate Independence Day in San Antonio

San Antonio, TX (June 22, 2017) – With so many things to do, San Antonio is a great destination for a Fourth of July getaway. Whether it’s a daytrip, a one-night stay or a long weekend, visitors are sure to find a holiday celebration that’s just right! To help plan a fun-filled trip here are 10 unforgettable ways to revel and make memories in San Antonio this July 4th.

  • San Antonio’s official Independence Day Celebration will be at Woodlawn Lake Park. Full of family-friendly fun, this event is open to the public and best of all, is free. Entertainment, food for purchase, vendors, fitness activities and more will culminate with a spectacular fireworks show at night.
  • Celebrate the Fourth of July with a bang as SeaWorld San Antonio presents its spectacular annual fireworks display. This stunning mix of pyrotechnics is set to a triumphant musical score. The jaw-dropping show is free with admission to SeaWorld and visitors can enhance their experience with reserved seating and special food options.
  • Near the San Antonio River Walk, check out Bud Light Stars, Stripes and Lights featuring patriotic luminarias along the banks of the River Walk. Bud Light Stars, Strips & Lights is free to enjoy. The star-spangled bags will be on display from sundown on June 30 through the night of July 4.
  • Join the San Antonio Botanical Garden for 4th of July fireworks in a beautiful garden setting. Gates open at 7 p.m., with fireworks starting at dusk. Guests can bring their own picnic or purchase food from The Box Street Social’s menu, including wine and beer. General admission applies.
  • Start the holiday weekend on June 30 at The Shops at River Center with a free live music concert by Rockcastle at the River Walk area of The Shops at River Center. The event is from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs.
  • Take in a Commemorative Air Force Independence Day Celebration at Stinson Municipal Airport, on July 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy a free family fair event with music and activities for the kids. With admission, families can tour vintage military aircraft including an A4 cockpit and Centex T6 Red Tail.
  • From July 2 through July 4, Six Flags Fiesta Texas will host July 4th Fest presented by Coca Cola. Guests will be dazzled by brilliant fireworks and enjoy discounted admission when they bring a Coca-Cola can to the park.
  • At The Alamo, families can experience living history with music, readings of the Declaration of Independence and more. This free event takes place July 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Market Square Freedom Fest takes place on July 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in historic Market Square. This free event is suitable for the entire family. Enjoy tasty food, crafts, live music, dancing and more. 
  • Check out The Independence Day Celebration at Traders Village July 2 from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Kids will enjoy free activities including face painting, a magician, fun with a balloon artist and even mechanical bull riding. Free American flags for the first 3,000 guests.
